City Budget 2012-2013

Below are three documents related to the City of San Jose’s 2012-2013 Budget: (1) Flyer for the 2012 District 5 Community Budget meeting, (2) a memo from Councilmembers Campos, Chu and Kalra supporting the Mayor’s March Budget Message with the following amendments, (3) the City Budget Office’s 2012-2013 Proposed Budget in Brief: a 13-page document. 1. The City is holding a 2012 District 5 Community Budget meeting on May 10, 2012, from 6pm-8pm at the Mayfair Community Center (2039 Kammerer Avenue, San José 95116). Please join Councilmember Xavier Campos in hosting Mayor Chuck Reed and other city leaders for a community forum on budget issues, concerns, and priorities for the 2012-13 Fiscal Year. This is a free event open to all residents in District 5. Refreshments will be provided. For more information please contact Karina Dominguez in the District 5 office at 408.535.4946 or Karina.Dominguez@sanjoseca.gov.

2. Memo from Councilmembers Campos, Chu and Kalra supporting the Mayor’s March Budget Message with the following amendments:
“If during the course of this year’s budget process we experience an additional incremental General Fund surplus, I suggest we prioritize the following service additions to be added to the budget:
¯ Restore branch library services to operate six days a week.
¯ Restore transportation services to seniors for Senior Nutrition programming.
¯ Continue to provide funding assistance, as in FY 2011-2012, to our Neighborhood Business Associations.
¯ Restore staffing for the Fire Department’s Hazardous Incident Team (HIT).
¯ Hire 10 additional police officers to be deployed at the discretion of the Police Chief for the suppression of gang violence and neighborhood crimes.”
