The District 5 Heroes inaugural event was a great success on June 30, 2012. Click here to view 71 photos as families joined Councilmember CamposÂ and the District 5 United community volunteer team to recognize five everyday East San Jose heroes. We look forward to a larger event next year with even more activities for kids. Below is information provided prior to the event.
The â€œDistrict 5 Heroesâ€ community pride project is intended to allow the East San Jose community to celebrate our everyday heroes. We’ll share everyday hero stories provided by community members just like you.

District 5 United
Location: Emma Prusch Park, San Jose
Join families, heroes and elected officials in this wonderful family event. Free food for the first 125 attendees. There will also be kids’ activities (including two pinatas, coloring book station, face-painting and a bounce house for kids), free books, and free raffle prizes. A handful of heroes will receive special recognition,Â including a plaque and pin, fromÂ District 5 United:Â Kâ€™La Gonzalez,Â Michelle Urmeneta,Â Betty Howard,Â Vic Zavala, andÂ Lidia Reguerin.
12pm â€“ Gates Open; Kidsâ€™ Activities Begin; Free food for the first 125 attendees at sign in; Free raffle tickets to all at sign in
1pm â€“ District 5 United ~ Welcome
1:05pmâ€” Pledge of Allegiance led by Cub Scout Pack 920
